Li Bojing is a fashion image-maker and commercial photographer working between London, Shanghai and Beijing. Her practice moves between fashion imagery and personal narrative, focusing on contemporary youth culture, the ambiguity of identity, and the ways individual emotions are reorganised within environments of being seen and consumed.

Her work often centres on the human figure, creating image spaces that exist between reality and performance. In her photographs, the subject is not simply presented passively in front of the camera, but is shaped through the interaction of space and emotion, arriving at a position that can be reimagined by the viewer. Her visual language often moves between directness and restraint, intimacy and distance, freedom and uncertainty.

Within commercial photography, Bojing does not attempt to completely separate personal expression from commercial image-making. Instead, she highlights the tension between the two: how a brand can be given a sense of community culture, how an individual can retain their uniqueness within brand imagery, and how an image can serve both communication and narrative.

Her personal work is more closely rooted in observations of her own experiences, emotions and the conditions of contemporary life. She is interested in the ways young people move between identity, desire, anxiety and self-expression, as well as how fashion imagery can become an emotional carrier that is both fictional and real. Through her practice, she uses photography as a way to understand the self, express lived experience, and create moments of resonance within a wider community.
